Telehealth lab orders
Your provider can order lab work as part of a telehealth visit, so you can keep track of your health without an in-person exam. Your provider will review your results with you and adjust your plan as needed. See all of our telehealth services or request a visit to talk about which labs may be right for you. For plain-language information about lab tests, visit MedlinePlus.
How telehealth lab orders work
Telehealth lab orders let your provider request bloodwork after a video or phone visit, so you do not need an in-person exam to get started. Your provider chooses the tests based on your symptoms, health history, and any medications you take. After the order is placed, you complete your blood draw at a lab location and the results are sent to your provider for review.
When telehealth lab orders are helpful
Telehealth lab orders can help you check your general health with a routine panel, follow up on thyroid, hormone, or blood sugar concerns, and monitor liver and kidney function while you take certain medications, including weight loss medication. They can also look for vitamin and nutrient deficiencies that affect energy and mood, and track inflammation markers over time.
What to know before your blood draw
Some tests require fasting, so follow the instructions your provider gives you. Bring a photo ID and wear sleeves that roll up easily. Telehealth lab orders are not for emergencies. If you feel seriously unwell, call 911. To talk about which tests may be right for you, request an appointment.
